Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Landlord,.
I hope you are doing well. I as you know we had an agreement for 6 months about the apartment, but know i really want live here for longer time now since i feel really happy living in tthis house. Moreover, the time i entered this house my life has really changed , i am feeling positive changes in my life . Got the promotion on my job on the very first day i entered. I feel really feel good energies in this house that is why i want to live for 1 more year here.
There are some issues in the apartment that i want you to consider, the heating system is not working properly, it gets cold at night. I would really appreciate if you solve this issue as soon as possible.
Thank You for your time and understanding .I hope i will get a reply as soon as possible.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three required points: you request an extension, explain that you are happy in the apartment and that your circumstances have changed, and report that the heating does not work properly. The request is specific—“1 more year”—and the cold nights explain why the repair matters. The explanation for your changed plans is relevant, but the connection between receiving a promotion and wanting to remain in this apartment could be made clearer. The problem is also stated briefly, without details such as when it occurs or whether you have already tried to contact the owner. The letter is purposeful and mostly complete; developing these points more fully and making the request for an extension explicit would strengthen it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a generally clear progression: you explain your wish to stay and the reason, then raise the heating problem, and finish with a polite closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish the main request from the maintenance issue. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “that is why” show how some ideas relate, although the first paragraph becomes difficult to follow because several thoughts run together, including the promotion and your positive feelings about the apartment. The transition from the extension request to the repair request is understandable but could be smoother. Use clearer sentence boundaries and organise the explanation into a more deliberate sequence so the reader can follow each point without rereading.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main message, with relevant terms such as “agreement,” “promotion,” “heating system,” and “solve this issue.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, including “good energies in this house,” “live here for longer time,” and “got the promotion on my job.” Spelling and word-form slips such as “know” for “now” and “ttthis” also reduce control. These choices do not prevent the owner from understanding your request, but they make the letter less natural and precise. Aim for conventional rental and maintenance language, and check spelling and collocations before sending.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more connected sentences, for example, “I would really appreciate if you solve this issue as soon as possible.” The overall meaning is usually clear, but errors in sentence construction and verb forms are noticeable. “I as you know we had an agreement” needs clearer punctuation and structure, while “I really want live here” requires an infinitive marker. In “I would really appreciate if you solve,” the conditional form is not controlled; a more accurate pattern is “I would appreciate it if you could solve this.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly in the opening and closing. Practise accurate sentence boundaries and common request structures while retaining some longer sentences.
