Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Mr Joacky,
I am writing to request you for extend my 6 month agreement to which is originally agreed by me five months ago.
As you know, I am residing at your apartment because of my ongoing internship course, originally it was 6 months of period, but I want to learn more advance technology which will enhance my skill and built huge opportunity for future. For completing it, now onwards i need three more months. Therefore I need to extend my stay by an additional three months.
There are no any major issues faced by me in your apartment, but sometime dish washer is not working properly, I tried lot to solve this problem but it is still not working. I appreciate if you could arrange someone to repair it. Another issue is, there is no camera installation at main door area. Needless to say, safety is essential for everyone. I am living alone, and it is risk of theft while i was absent. I would be greatful if you consider installing a security camera to improve the safety of the residents.
I hope you understand my situation and consider my request to extend my agreement and take proper steps in this issues. I hope to hear from you soon.
Your Sincerely,
Krupa Soni

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requirements: you request a further three months, explain that your internship has led you to pursue more advanced training, and report problems with the dishwasher and the lack of a security camera. The purpose is clear and the tone is generally polite. The extension request and the reason for it are relevant, though the benefit of the additional training is described somewhat generally rather than explaining what has changed in your plans in more detail. The camera concern is also useful context, but it is less central than the apartment repair issue. To strengthen the letter, make the changed plan and requested end date especially explicit, and distinguish clearly between the repair request and the optional security suggestion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall progression: it opens with the request, explains your circumstances, describes apartment concerns, and closes by asking the owner to respond. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these different purposes, and links such as “Therefore” and “Another issue” make the sequence understandable. Some connections are less smooth, however. The opening sentence is difficult to follow, and the transition from the dishwasher problem to the camera request makes two separate concerns feel crowded together. The closing phrase “take proper steps in this issues” is also unclear in its reference. Use shorter, more direct sentences in the opening and closing, and give each apartment concern a clearly signposted sentence or paragraph.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for a formal request, including “ongoing internship,” “enhance my skill,” “arrange someone to repair it,” and “improve the safety of the residents.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and the reader can understand the concerns. Some word combinations and forms are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “request you for extend,” “learn more advance technology,” and “huge opportunity for future.” There are also spelling errors in “greatful” and inconsistent capitalization of “I.” These slips limit the precision and naturalness of the vocabulary, although they do not prevent understanding. Aim for conventional collocations and check spelling and word forms before sending the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, for example, “I am living alone, and it is risk of theft while i was absent,” and “I hope you understand my situation and consider my request.” The overall meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and make several sentences awkward. In the opening, “I am writing to request you for extend my 6 month agreement” needs a different verb pattern; “which is originally agreed” also has an incorrect passive form. Other examples include “there are no any major issues” and “I appreciate if you could arrange,” where the sentence patterns and verb forms need correction. Practise request structures and articles, and proofread tense consistency, agreement, and punctuation.
