Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three required points: you request a further three months, explain that your job contract has been extended and that finding another apartment would be difficult, and report a leaking bathroom tap. The purpose is clear and the reasons are relevant. The request and explanation are more fully developed than the repair issue, which is brief and does not describe the leak’s impact beyond making a mess. The opening and closing also establish a polite letter format, although “Dear Sir” is less personal than addressing the owner by name if known. To strengthen the response further, give a little more detail about the problem and make the requested repair action explicit and courteous.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The information follows a sensible order: the extension request comes first, followed by the reasons for the change and then the apartment problem. Linking expressions such as “The reason for this change” and “Moreover” help show how the ideas relate. However, the letter is presented largely as one continuous block, so the shift from the rental request to the maintenance issue is not visually clear. Some transitions are also repetitive or abrupt, particularly the repeated use of “I would like to inform you.” Use separate paragraphs for the request, explanation, and repair issue, and connect them with a more varied but natural range of transitions. This would make the progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough relevant vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “job contract has been extended,” “suitable apartment,” and “repaired.” The tone is generally appropriate for writing to a landlord. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “extand,” “rant,” “gladful,” and “reponse,” and some phrases are not natural, such as “The bathroom tap is leaked” and “It cause mess.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the request, but they reduce precision and fluency. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for rental and repair letters, such as “extend my tenancy” and “the tap is leaking.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes both simple sentences and more developed structures, for example, “The reason for this change is that my job contract has been extended,” and “finding another suitable apartment at the moment would be difficult.” These allow you to explain your reasons clearly. Some grammatical errors remain, including “I started renting a apartment on six month agreement,” “The bathroom tap is leaked,” and “It cause mess in bathroom.” These involve articles, agreement, and verb forms, while missing spaces after full stops and inconsistent capitalisation also affect punctuation. Review article use and the difference between present simple and present continuous, as in “the tap is leaking.” More accurate control of these patterns would make the letter smoother.
