Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The letter clearly addresses all three requirements: you request a further twelve months, explain that your employer has offered you a permanent position, and report the leaking kitchen tap. The reason for staying is relevant and supported with additional details about your comfort in the neighbourhood and the convenient location. The repair request is also clear, including how long the leak has continued and what action you would like the owner to take. This gives the reader a clear purpose throughout. To strengthen the response further, make the request and closing more precise and polished—for example, state directly that you would like to renew the agreement for twelve months and ask the owner to confirm whether this is possible. The content is complete, though some details could be expressed more smoothly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information is arranged in a sensible sequence: the opening explains the renewal request, the next paragraph gives the reason for the change in plans, and the final body paragraph describes the maintenance problem. Linking phrases such as “Initially,” “Along with this,” and “I also want to bring your attention” help signal the relationships between ideas. The progression is generally easy to follow. However, some sentences contain several ideas joined together, particularly the explanation of your employment change and the description of the leak, so the reader has to work harder to follow them. Use full stops to separate the main points and make the paragraph transitions more natural. A conventional greeting and sign-off would also make the letter’s overall structure feel more complete.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the purpose, including “rental agreement,” “permanent job position,” “convenient,” and “leaking,” so the main message is understandable. There are also attempts at more formal language, such as “I would appreciate” and “arrange a plumber.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision and sometimes make the phrasing awkward, as in “maintainence,” “triend,” “suspect,” and “tenent agreency.” Some combinations are not natural in this context: “request you regarding” and “stay in same surrounding” would be clearer with more conventional expressions. Focus on accurate spelling and common collocations for rental correspondence; this will make your vocabulary more effective without needing unnecessarily complex words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including explanations with “because” and a relative clause in “the tap on sink is leaking.” The intended meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries occur often enough to affect fluency. For example, “which will due on next month” needs a correctly formed verb phrase, while “my employment conditions has been changed” has an agreement and verb-form problem. Articles and prepositions are also missing or inaccurate in phrases such as “in kitchen” and “from last two weeks.” Several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, then review articles and tense consistency before sending the letter.
