Dear ....................................,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Mrs. Karina,

I hope you are well this time, as we talked before you were suffering from one major health issue. I am writing this letter in regards to express my interest to live in apartment for more than six months now. Specifically, I decided to live for two years in the same apartment which starts from present date.

Alteration in my plan comes from my job and ambiance of this place. First and foremost reason to stay here is my opportunity which I got this month related to my job. I get an opportunity to work as full time registered nurse just at 5 minutes walking distance from apartment. Whereas other strong motive to continue my stay here is because of the ambiance and aura of the surroundings. Since I am living here, I must say its wonderful experience living near by the most sensible people.

The only one thing which needs to be alter is the parking issue. We need more parking space as parking area is not sufficient for the folks living here. Overall, this place is most calming and soothing place I have ever reside in.

I will be very thanful for accepting my request. I will be happy to hear back about your health update.

Yours Sincerely,

Muskan

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three required points: you request a two-year extension, explain that you have obtained a nearby nursing job and enjoy the neighbourhood, and mention insufficient parking. The purpose is clear and the reasons are relevant. The job opportunity is the strongest explanation, while the change in your plans could be made more explicit—for example, clarify how the new role means you can remain in the area. The parking concern is identified, but it would help to say what action you would like the owner to take. The opening’s reference to the owner’s health is considerate, though it is not necessary to the request. Overall, the key information is present, but some points need fuller development and a more direct request for a response or agreement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall structure: an opening request, a paragraph explaining your reasons, a paragraph about the apartment problem, and a polite closing. Sequencing phrases such as “First and foremost” and “Whereas” help signal relationships between ideas, and the reader can follow the main message. Some connections are less smooth, however: “Alteration in my plan comes from my job and ambiance” is an abrupt transition, and “Whereas” does not form a clear contrast with the preceding point. The final paragraph also moves quickly from the parking issue to general praise. Use simpler, more precise links and make each paragraph’s purpose consistent to create more natural progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for a personal letter, including relevant terms such as “registered nurse,” “walking distance,” and “parking space.” There are also attempts at more expressive vocabulary, including “ambiance,” “aura,” and “calming and soothing,” although some choices sound unnatural or overly elaborate in this context. Several word-choice and spelling errors reduce precision, such as “in regards to express,” “most sensible people,” “reside,” and “thanful.” Prefer straightforward, natural phrasing when making a practical request to a landlord. For example, describe the neighbourhood as “pleasant” or “friendly,” and say that you would like to “extend the rental agreement.” These adjustments would make your vocabulary more accurate and appropriately formal.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including the reason introduced by “Since I am living here” and the sentence describing your job opportunity. The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. Examples include “I decided to live for two years … which starts from present date,” where the relative clause and time expression are not well formed, and “The only one thing which needs to be alter,” which has an incorrect verb form. Articles and sentence patterns also need attention in “live in apartment” and “I will be very thankful for accepting my request.” Aim for accurate, complete sentence structures, such as “I would like to extend my agreement for two years from the current end date.”
