Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many clients are selecting to purchase stock that is being manufactured in their surroundings instead of buying foreign supplies. In this essay I will discuss the reasons and opinion regarding this practice.

To begin with, there are several reasons for buying local products. Firstly, the products made in specific area are of higher quality and cost effective.Several clients can check the quality of the product first instead ordering or buying from international market. As it is time saving and encourage the small business. For instance, customers visiting local market always looks for better quality at lower rates. As a result it helps shopkeeper to bring the items from the local factory outlet so that they can give the exact thing that customer wants to buy however It makes the increase in sales ratio and enhance their service.

To continue with, buying local products helps small businesses to grow. For example, many small businesses of hand made products are increasing day by day on social media platforms just to strike the balance between their income and expenses.Selecting local goods encourage small businesses and it brings the job opportunites for the people who have talent.

In my opinion, it is a positive trend that helps boost our economy and encourages people to start their own business at a small level. It is cost effective and provides better quality.

To sum up, the increasing trend of buying local products is helping many families and providing better quality at a cost effective rates and time friendly zone.Although international goods takes time and are highly expensive but they also provide better quality.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the prompt: you give reasons for choosing local goods, including checking quality and supporting small businesses, and you clearly call the trend positive because it can boost the economy and create jobs. These are relevant points, but several are asserted rather than explained. For example, the claim that local products are “of higher quality and cost effective” is not supported with a clear comparison or example, and the discussion of social-media businesses does not fully explain why consumers prefer their goods. The final sentence also introduces a qualification—that imported goods can provide better quality—without explaining how this affects your overall view. Develop fewer points with clearer cause-and-effect reasoning and a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two paragraphs about reasons and benefits, a paragraph stating your opinion, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “To continue with,” and “To sum up” help readers follow the broad progression. However, some links are mechanical, and the first body paragraph combines several ideas—quality, checking products, time, shopkeepers, and sales—without a clear progression between them. The sentence beginning “As a result” is difficult to follow because the relationship between customers, shopkeepers, and increased sales is not made explicit. The conclusion also repeats earlier claims and adds a contrast that is not integrated into your position. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each supporting detail directly to its main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “local products,” “international market,” “small businesses,” “job opportunities,” and “boost our economy.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several choices are unnatural or imprecise. For example, “clients” is less suitable than “consumers” in this context, “stock” does not clearly mean locally made goods, and “strike the balance between their income and expenses” is an awkward way to describe small businesses managing finances. There are also spelling and word-form errors, such as “opportunites” and “hand made.” Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check common collocations so that your meaning is consistently clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, using structures such as “As it is time saving and encourage the small business” and “Although international goods takes time…” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “customers visiting local market always looks” has problems with the article and subject–verb agreement, while “international goods takes” does not agree in number. The sentence beginning “As a result” is also incomplete as written, and punctuation is inconsistent, including missing spaces after full stops and unnecessary capitalisation of “It.” Practise building complete sentences with one clear main clause, then check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
