Student answer (Band 6.5)

Nowadays, local area products are more in demand than the goods are imported from the other countries. This essay will discuss the reasons behind this trend and explain why i think it is a positive development.

It is believe that the local goods are affordable. To elaborate, the products which are buy from nearby cities they do not have any shipping cost and also tax-free. For instance, when I go to any shop in my town I always prefer walking because it is near to my home which saves the delivery cost, and in my home country all the goods are free of tax. As a result, it not only save the extra expenses but also save the time of delivery.

What is more, people can also do bargaining and it is convenient to return if it is not working properly. For example, my mother she is expert in bargaining either in clothes or in other cosmetic products. In my childhood, she brings a shirt for me which was for four hundred rupee, but she said to the shopkeeper I will just give 300 and after some time shopkeeper gave her shirt in 300rupee. However, the shirt was faded after first wash than my mother went at the shop again and got full refund. Eventually, it is easy to get the things in cheaper price rather than the original price and refundable.

Therefore, local shopping are the cheaper by saving the tax and bargaining main reasons people neglect imported products.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether it is a positive trend. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you mention affordability and convenience, the arguments are supported by personal anecdotes rather than broader societal or economic analysis. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the 'positive trend' aspect mentioned in the introduction. To improve, aim to expand on the implications of your points, such as the environmental impact or support for the local economy, rather than focusing solely on personal shopping experiences.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'To elaborate,' 'For instance,' and 'What is more,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Eventually, it is easy to get the things...' which does not effectively summarize the preceding paragraph. Additionally, the final paragraph is very short and lacks a strong concluding statement that ties the entire argument together. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'bargaining,' 'shipping cost,' and 'refund.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'goods are imported from the other countries' (should be 'imported from other countries') and 'local shopping are the cheaper' (should be 'local shopping is cheaper'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to economics or consumer behavior, and pay closer attention to collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'It is believe that' (should be 'It is believed'), 'products which are buy' (should be 'products which are bought'), and 'my mother she is expert' (should be 'my mother is an expert'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
