Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is undeniable that many customers like to buy foreign product rather then nation made products and in this contemporary era more and more people sawing interested to do so. There are many different reason behind this situations. As my perspective this is negative trend. My opinions and why it has negative effect will be elaborated in the forthcoming paragraph.

To commence with , Every nations has some pros and cons and that is why not all country can produce all goods or in same quality. Some nations produce extraordinary cloths so some can make amazing quality of furniture. For example, USA able to produces best quality of electrical items as popular brands belong to this country like apple. On the other side Pakistan is popular for its cloths. People wants good quality as well as brand that popular so they buy imported items instead of local items. For instead now a days more and more Indian are using i-phone rather then Indian brand phone. Hence , people need quality and brand that not every country can produced.

As my opinion this is not benefitial for local country and local people . fist and fore most is imported products are always so expensive and it include so much extra taxes like tariff. another reason is we contribute in another nations economy by buying their products and we neglect our own country . If we want to make our country growing we have to support local brand.

In conclusion , people want to but trending and best product so they are using imported products , however , by doing this their own country suffer from economy loss.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local versus imported goods and the writer's opinion on whether this is a positive or negative trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the writer mentions quality differences and economic impact, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. The introduction contains a significant misunderstanding of the prompt, as the student writes about people preferring 'foreign products' when the prompt asks about the trend of choosing 'local' goods. This confusion persists throughout the essay, making the position inconsistent and confusing for the reader. To improve, ensure you carefully analyze the prompt's premise before drafting your response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'For instead' and 'fist and fore most'. The logical progression of ideas is hindered by the confusion regarding the topic (local vs. imported). Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the reasons for buying imports and the negative economic impact is abrupt. While there is an attempt to use linking words, they are not always used appropriately, which affects the overall flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'nation made products' instead of 'domestically produced goods' and 'sawing interested' instead of 'showing interest'. Some terms are used incorrectly, such as 'economy loss' instead of 'economic decline'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the presence of spelling errors (e.g., 'benefitial', 'cloths' used for clothing) restrict the score. To reach a higher band, focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are frequently marred by grammatical errors, such as 'Every nations has' (subject-verb agreement) and 'not every country can produced' (tense error). Punctuation is inconsistent, with irregular spacing and misuse of commas. Errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, particularly when trying to follow the writer's logic. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, consistent verb tenses, and the correct use of articles.
