Student answer (Band 7.5)
In this modern and fast-paced consumer generation, people are inclining more towards purchasing goods from their local shops rather than following the social trend of implementing the purchase of imported goods. The sudden shift in this trend is overwhelmingly positive as it's main desire is to support the local craftspeople, protection from any environmental harm and to strengthen the relationship between the society and the consumers.
On the one hand, this will support our local salesperson as they produce goods with integrity and dedication which demands less time, less pressure and less burden. This shall avoid any third-party marginal costs which overweighs and overshadows the marketing cost, advertising cost and distribution cost. Instead of paying these surplus charges to the importer, it's more efficient and sustainable to pay those extra funds to our local producer this will not only help them to gain more profit but it will also create a trustworthy bond between the seller and the buyer.
On the other hand, getting imported goods have severely adverse effects on carbon emissions as it consumes more carbon footprint which involves long logistics channel. For example, ordering some antique piece might sound very aesthetic; however, the process behind the entire shipment from placing the order to getting it delivered at your door requires multiple tasks from packaging to labeling and then shipping it either via rail or ship.
Contrastingly, purchasing from our local market ensures that it avoids all these challenges. Furthermore, the primary reason is the location as we can see the live production which eliminates all the packaging waste and plastic labels which contains toxic chemicals that could disrupt our health.
In conclusion, this positive trend surely plays a significant role in our community as it build strong relationships between consumer and community as our local sellers play a vital role in omitting the carbon issues and protecting our environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have addressed both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and your opinion on whether it is positive or negative. Your position is clear from the introduction and maintained throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as supporting local craftspeople and reducing carbon footprints. However, some points could be further developed; for instance, the argument about 'third-party marginal costs' is a bit abstract and could benefit from a more concrete example. Overall, you have provided a well-structured response that covers all requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition in the final paragraph is a bit abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, which helps the reader follow your argument. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision, using terms like 'integrity', 'sustainable', and 'logistics channel'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'consumes more carbon footprint' (a footprint is a measure, not something consumed) and 'omitting the carbon issues' (you likely meant 'reducing' or 'mitigating'). Despite these occasional errors, your vocabulary is adequate to convey your meaning clearly and allows for some flexibility in expression.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are some grammatical slips, such as 'it's main desire is' (should be 'its') and 'which contains toxic chemicals' (should be 'contain' to agree with 'labels'). Punctuation is generally functional, though some sentences are slightly long and could be broken up for better clarity. The errors present do not impede communication, and you show a good attempt at using complex structures to support your arguments.
