Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether it is a positive trend. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding economic growth and job creation are mentioned but lack specific examples or depth. The introduction is somewhat confusing and does not clearly outline the essay's direction. While the position is clear, the supporting points are somewhat repetitive and rely on generalisations. To improve, you should provide concrete examples, such as mentioning specific industries or the environmental impact of transport, to better support your claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or awkward, such as 'Embarking with the points' and 'Hammering the final nail into the coffin', which are not natural in an academic context. The flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed, making the progression of ideas feel forced. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between the reasons and the opinion section could be smoother. Improving the variety and naturalness of linking words will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'giving by clearance to assigned statement' and 'stable the job opportunity'. The use of idiomatic expressions like 'hammering the final nail into the coffin' is inappropriate for this type of essay, as it is a dramatic idiom that does not fit the formal tone. You should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that collocations are natural and accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it will stable the job'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence construction. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like article usage and verb forms would be beneficial.
