Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the recent years, the way people live and think has drastically changes. In such a scenario some people opine that combining various cultural ethinics is possible through music. I partially agree with the above notion and reason for my inclination are articulated in the ensuing paragraphs.

On the one hand, since ancestral times music is considered as therapy of human life and people from stone age to present enthusiastically listen to music. However, with the advent of technology and globalisation individuals can listen to music from across the globe which not only makes them aware about the culture and heritage but also enhances the feeling of being connected. For instance, Giva music festival brings huge mass of crowds together where citizens from vivid countries showcase their traditional music. Ergo, music serves as a therapy for trasncending the international barriers leading to cultural exchange.

On the other hand, their are vivid types of other art forms like dance, drama, painting which play a pivotal role in cultural interchange. Admittedly, poeple who dislike music will be sans of the traditions.Nevertheless, other art forms play the role with grater platform for cultrual and traditional interaction. Moreover, various cultural and traditional festivals across the globe presenting the cultural diversity stands as an epitome. Hence, other art forms are equally essential when compared to music in amalgamation of diversities.

To conclude, Although music is pivotal in cultural interaction, I believe that other art forms also play crucial role and cannot be neglected when considering cultural exchange.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks for reasons why consumers are choosing local goods over imported ones and whether this is a positive or negative trend. However, the essay discusses the role of music and art in cultural exchange. Because the student failed to address the actual prompt, the task achievement is severely compromised. While the essay is structured as an argument, it does not respond to the specific question posed, which is a fundamental requirement for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude' are used to link ideas. However, because the content is irrelevant to the prompt, the progression of ideas does not support a central argument related to the task. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the lack of topical relevance limits the effectiveness of the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The student demonstrates a reasonable range of vocabulary, including terms like 'globalisation', 'pivotal', 'amalgamation', and 'epitome'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'ethinics' instead of 'ethics' or 'ethnicities', 'trasncending' instead of 'transcending', and 'grater' instead of 'greater'. Despite these errors, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning, even though the topic chosen by the student is incorrect for the task provided.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'drastically changes' (should be 'changed'), 'their are vivid types' (should be 'there are'), and 'people who dislike music will be sans of the traditions' (awkward phrasing). While these errors are frequent, they do not consistently impede communication. The control of grammar is inconsistent, but the student shows an attempt to use a variety of structures.
