Student answer (Band 5.5)

What if you do not need to go far for the dairy shopping and households things. Most of the people does not like to go another mall for the goods . In my point of view if we have enough time after our work or study so we must go for the best until it is not better but if nearby store is good for the household things so it would be the best option you ever choose. Sometimes it will cost you more instead of paying less and specially go for little cheap is not a best choice for a person.

By doing this you can spend time with your family because family comes first in every angle. In my words we should go for a local areas for the grocery. We can go with yourself, you do not need to get a car if the store is nearby

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the ability to develop ideas. While the essay touches on the topic of local shopping, it does not fully address the prompt. The reasons for choosing local goods are underdeveloped, and the discussion regarding whether this is a positive or negative trend is unclear and lacks a definitive stance. The content is repetitive and lacks the depth required for an IELTS Task 2 response. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with specific examples and ensure you address both parts of the prompt (reasons and opinion) in a structured manner.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction or conclusion, and the ideas are presented in a fragmented manner. Paragraphing is not used effectively, and the transition between sentences is often abrupt or confusing, such as the shift from discussing shopping costs to family time. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, making the progression of ideas difficult to follow. To improve, you should organize your essay into clear paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs (one for reasons, one for your opinion), and a conclusion. Use linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' to connect your thoughts logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive, relying on simple terms like 'things', 'good', and 'best'. There are issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'dairy shopping and households things' and 'go for little cheap'. These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding of your intended meaning. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more precise, topic-specific terms related to economics, consumer behavior, and sustainability. Avoid using informal or vague language and focus on using words that accurately describe the concepts you are discussing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often distort meaning. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Most of the people does not like') and awkward sentence construction ('if we have enough time... so we must go for the best until it is not better'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns before attempting more complex ones. Pay close attention to subject-verb agreement, verb tenses, and the correct use of articles. Proofreading your work for these common errors will help improve the overall clarity of your writing.
