Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some people believe that locally produced goods is more beneficial than goods imported from another places. In my opinion, this is a negative trend because imported goods and products are backbone of the consumer market.

Firstly, production of goods is different from places to places depending upon the climatic conditions and topographical factors. As a result, production of varoius types of goods need to ship from one place to another. Demand for certain products caused shipping of these items from one place to another by different means of transportation. If consumers are trying to choose goods from local areas it will affect global market demands and production. For example, some crops, like coconut will not grow on some areas because of climatic conditions. In that case ,Importing these goods is effectively needed for the availability of these crops across the world. Therefore, choosing locally available goods is not always possible because not all products are not available in all places.

Secondly, the main motive for the trend of selecting goods that produce locally is that supporting the local people and not to lose their wealth to other countries .As a result, farmers get the value of produced goods without any lose. Apparently,If the demand in the society is less they will face high loss in production. In that case, Importing and exporting have the importance because of the demand in other places. As a result people are forced to buy imported goods because of less price and good quality.

In conclusion, choosing goods that are produced in their own places is a negative impact to the society and the producers because not all goods cannot be produced in all places.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and an opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide a clear reason regarding climatic conditions and topographical factors, the second body paragraph is less clear in its argument, particularly the transition between supporting local farmers and the claim that people are forced to buy imported goods due to price. The position is consistent throughout, but the explanation of why this is a 'negative' trend could be more nuanced and better supported with clearer examples to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'As a result', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some referencing is slightly unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the link between supporting local farmers and the subsequent claim about the necessity of imports is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is adequate but lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally appropriate for the task, covering topics like 'climatic conditions', 'topographical factors', and 'global market demands'. However, there are some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'not all products are not available' (a double negative) and 'without any lose' (should be 'loss'). Additionally, some phrasing is slightly repetitive. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding basic errors in word forms. The range is sufficient to communicate your ideas clearly, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility or precision expected at higher levels.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('locally produced goods is', 'production of various types of goods need to ship') and punctuation errors (missing spaces after periods). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and ensure that complex sentences are constructed accurately. Increasing the variety of error-free complex structures will help improve your score in this criterion.
