Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, there is tough competition between local goods and imported products. A few consumers are increasingly choosing to buy products that are made in their surrounding place. There are some reasons behind this statement. In my opinion, this trend has a positive impact on individuals.
Certainly, there are a plethora of reasons to buy local products instead of imported goods. The predominant one among them is that it is affordable for them. In other words, imported products come from other nations. Importers have to pay various types of charges to import food and other products from another countries, like shipping charges, packaging charges, quality charges, and so on. that is increased the price of products. As a result, Shoppers sell the same product at an expensive rate. For Example, people have to pay a lower price at Walmart than at an Indian store for vegetables. Walmart sells local vegetables, and Indian stores are imported from India. Another reason worth mentioning is that while people buy local products, they get good-quality items from the local market. To Elaborate, when products are coming from another nation, it takes around 5 to 6 days to reach their place. Because of this, sometimes the items are spilled or poor in quality, which is not good for individuals' health. While people buy things from local places, they get good things.
Some human beings prefer to buy local products, which gives positive impact on the local people. A few local individuals have fewer chances to earn money. They take food and goods fresh from nearby areas. While consumers are increasingly choosing to buy goods from the local market. As a result, local people earn more money, which is useful to fulfill the needs of their loved ones, and they are able to give better education to their kids.
In conclusion, consumers are likely to choose to buy products from local areas because of affordable prices and better quality. I believe that this trend has a positive effect on local people to earn their bread and butter.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local goods and your opinion on whether this is a positive trend. Your position is clear from the introduction and maintained throughout. The ideas regarding affordability and quality are relevant, though the development could be more sophisticated. For instance, the example comparing Walmart to an Indian store is a bit confusing, as it assumes the reader knows the specific supply chain of those businesses. To reach a higher band, ensure your examples are more universally applicable and provide deeper analysis of the economic or environmental implications of the trend.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices like 'In other words,' 'To Elaborate,' and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly misused, such as starting a sentence with 'While consumers are increasingly...' which creates a fragment rather than a complete thought. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where 'they' is used repeatedly, making it difficult to distinguish between the shoppers, the importers, and the local producers. Improving the flow between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'plethora,' 'predominant,' and 'foster.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'surrounding place' is unnatural; 'local area' or 'vicinity' would be better. You also use 'spilled' when referring to food quality, which is incorrect; 'spoiled' or 'perished' would be more appropriate. While you attempt some less common vocabulary, these errors occasionally distract the reader. Focusing on precise collocations will help you move into the higher band range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'that is increased the price') and article usage (e.g., 'from another countries'). Some sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation, such as 'For Example, people have to pay...'. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic tense consistency and ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb.
