Student answer (Band 6.5)

Every products sell in their country are the backbone of the economy. There are several opinion on why goods are produced in their country rather than importing goods from neighbouring nations. However, i think its a negative developement and my supporting points alongwith the reasons are discussed in the ensuring paragraphs.

To begin with, there are myraids of reasons why many of the countries produced their product in their country. Firstly, they love their nations very much that they believe that they should promote their own products rather than promiting a brands from different countries. To cite an example, in India in 2021 Honourable prime minister Narendra Modi addressed to the citizens that they need to use indian products rather than using chinese and europe products. This could benefit our nations in terms of economy. Secondly, with the increasing in demand of national brand there is a chance to decrease in unemployement ration and thousands of business pay tax regurarily and runs the government smoothly. So, indirectly there is development of good education systems, arts and museums should be renovated so our local culture and traditions should not be lost.

However, there are many disadvantages of not promoting internation brands in the different countries. There is a chance of disputes among two countries and this can lead to the war situations and they also not help in bad times like natural disasters. Also, people should not know the taste of the different countries in terms of food. To exemplify, Kiwi first used to produce in new zealand but many of the countries try to import this fruit and now available anywhere in the world .

To sum up, promoting a brands in their own nation lead to decrease in umployement, governement benefits from tax so they could use their money on other things to develop, but, international relations among countries should also need to keep in mind.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the evaluation of the trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The reasons provided regarding national pride and economic benefits are relevant, but the discussion on the negative aspects is less convincing and lacks depth. For instance, the argument that avoiding international brands leads to war is a significant over-generalization and lacks logical support. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments would benefit from more nuanced analysis to reach a higher band. The response covers all requirements of the task, but the quality of the arguments is inconsistent.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'However' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical or awkward, such as the transition between the economic benefits and the cultural preservation point. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'this can lead to the war situations'. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the use of cohesive devices could be more sophisticated to improve the overall flow and logical progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'myriads' and 'unemployment', though there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'developement', 'regurarily', 'umployement'). Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'promiting a brands' or 'the war situations'. The range is sufficient to discuss the topic, but the frequent spelling mistakes and occasional imprecise collocations limit the score. Improving accuracy in spelling and word formation would significantly enhance the lexical quality of the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('Every products sell', 'many of the countries produced their product') and article usage ('the war situations', 'the different countries'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent and occur in both simple and complex sentences. The control over punctuation and sentence structure is inconsistent. To improve, the student should focus on basic grammatical accuracy, specifically pluralization and verb tense consistency, before attempting more complex structures.
