Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for choosing local goods and the opinion on whether this is a positive trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. While you mention freshness and economic benefits, the arguments lack depth and specific, real-world examples. For instance, the discussion on 'poor people' is a bit vague and could be better articulated as 'supporting local livelihoods' or 'stimulating the local economy'. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear, well-developed central idea supported by more precise evidence rather than general statements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'First of all', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'Another one is that...'). The transition between the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of its impact could be smoother. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one without relying on repetitive structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'more fresh' (should be 'fresher'), 'the frozen one's' (incorrect pluralization), and 'by woolen' (should be 'made of wool'). The repetition of basic words like 'goods', 'products', and 'people' limits the lexical variety. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and focus on correct collocations to express your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Goods... is'), incorrect pluralization ('one's' instead of 'ones'), and missing articles. Additionally, there are punctuation errors and awkward sentence constructions, such as 'although imported products may had some popularity'. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be highly beneficial.
