Student answer (Band 7.0)
An increasing number of people choose to buy local products instead of international goods. The reason could be the authenticity of the product and its lower price. I believe it is a positive trend because it can help boost the economy of the particular country.
The main causes of this trend are that people want to buy products of good quality and of reasonable price. To be more specific, the imported products may look good in appearance, but can be of poor quality. It is difficult to trust products from other nations. If people buy the same product from their local markets, they will have the option to check it thoroughly and can buy it from the authentic place where they sell original products. Another factor why people choose to buy from their local area is that it is mostly cheaper than imported ones. International goods have hidden additional charges, and because of this they become expensive. It is not the case with the local products.
In my opinion, this is a positive trend because local markets are beneficial for the nation's economy. If individuals prefer their local products, it will create more demand in the market and eventually, more job opportunities will also increase. As the jobs will increase, local people can enjoy their lives and also contribute to the economy of the country by opening new businesses and paying taxes to the government.
To conclude, Many people are interested in local products rather than international goods because this offers them authenticity and less price as compared to imported goods. I think it positively contributes to the economy of the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether this is a positive or negative trend. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'authenticity' and 'hidden charges' is mentioned but not fully explored with concrete examples or deeper analysis. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more specific illustrations or logical consequences. The conclusion is a bit repetitive, merely restating the introduction rather than synthesising the main points discussed in the body paragraphs. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of support could be more substantial.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'To be more specific', 'Another factor', and 'In my opinion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the connection between the quality of local products and the trust factor could be better linked. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow, though the overall structure is quite standard and lacks sophisticated cohesive links.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task and allows for clear communication. You use some relevant terms like 'authenticity', 'international goods', and 'job opportunities'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simpler phrasing, such as 'good quality' and 'reasonable price'. There are also minor issues with collocation, such as 'less price' instead of 'lower prices'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and idiomatic expressions related to economics and consumer behaviour. The current range is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are recurring grammatical errors. For example, 'the reason could be the authenticity... and its lower price' is grammatically acceptable, but 'as the jobs will increase' is slightly awkward phrasing. There are also minor issues with article usage and pluralisation, such as 'the economy of the particular country' (should be 'a particular country') and 'less price' (should be 'lower prices'). Despite these errors, the grammar does not impede communication. To achieve a higher score, aim for more varied complex structures and ensure greater accuracy in subject-verb agreement and article usage.
