Student answer (Band 6.5)
In recent years, many people are supporting the local shops rather than the international brands. I believe it is a positive trend as money stays in the country and get fresh and quality products.
The major reason that supports the above statement is the support for the local community. The money is revolving within the country that helps the country to boosts it's economy. Moreover, local shops generates more job opportunities. Also small businesses get an advantage to compete with international brands with provides recognition of local brands in international markets. For instance, the indian shoe brand campus is growing so fast that it is now competing with bigger overseas brands as Addidas, Nike, Puma and many more.
Another reason to put light on is the freshness and quality of products that an individual gets while purchasing from local shops. Goods from local shops travel less distance that is why the freshness is maintained and a local customer can take advantage from it. Furthermore, handmade local products have better craftsmanship. Also the trust that local customers have with their shopkeepers in terms of quality of the product. For instance, the fresh fruits bought from the nearby farms are usually tastier than the imported fruits that spent weeks in transportation process.
To conclude, the taste and preferences of an individual is changing as shopping and supporting local shops is more noticed than buying the international products as local shops delivers the fresh and quality products and the support for local shopkeepers also boosts the economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether it is a positive trend. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention economic benefits and freshness, the arguments could be extended further with more nuanced analysis. For instance, the discussion on job opportunities is brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully explained with a clear link back to the prompt's core question. Overall, the response is relevant and covers the requirements adequately.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the economic argument and the example of the shoe brand is slightly abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is a bit repetitive. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that ideas flow more naturally from one to the next would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'craftsmanship', 'international brands', and 'revolving'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'put light on' (should be 'shed light on') and 'gets fresh and quality products' (should be 'obtain fresh, high-quality products'). While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the overall range is somewhat limited. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing, such as the frequent use of 'local shops' and 'products'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'local shops generates', 'it is now competing... as Addidas') and article usage. There are also punctuation errors, such as the misuse of the apostrophe in 'it's' (should be 'its'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are noticeable. To achieve a higher score, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent control over complex sentence structures.
