Student answer (Band 6.5)

In recent years. we have encountered with various news everyday where people are choosing the local goods instead of purchasing from other nations which is eventually a great choice but it somewhere causes problems in the economy of the nation in terms of foreign exchanges. In this essay, I am going to share my opinion with prompt examples including the reasons as well as both sides of this trend.

To begin with, in my perspective the advantage of choosing local produced overweighs the disadvantages as from past few years many countries started banning various websites in their particular country because of their political propagandas. However, the natives of each countries started purchasing the local goods which eventually leads to competition among local businesses around the world and rising of product choices simultaneously decreasing the cost of products. For example, In India, few years back the website called SHIEN has been banned, at first it caused inconvenience to the people because this website provides modern and stylish clothes at much cheaper prices but with the time passes India has launched various platforms like Savana or Myntra in replace to shien which provides similar goods at much affordable prices by local sellers. So people almost forget about shien and started choosing local sellers as it reduced their cost of delivery charges and easy return policies.

On the other side, there are many aspects of international affairs which turns out to be negative trend because of this choice. Furthermore, it vigorously declined the business of import and export causing major difficulties to the international sellers. In context to this, it generously effected the relations between overseas countries.

Living in this technological era, every nation are tried their hard to produce and sell the local goods to become economically more stronger which in a way help the consumers to obtain their goods with lenient policies and lower additional fees.

In conclusion, choosing goods that are produced in own area has surprisingly turns out to be the best decision for the consumer as well as the seller and I believe that this idea should be promoted by the government by providing subsidies to the businessman of their own nation and encourage them to produced high quality goods and impress the local people so that they can get what they want more conveniently.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and whether it is positive or negative. You clearly state your position that the trend is positive. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the example of the Indian market is relevant and well-explained, the discussion regarding the negative impact on international relations is quite brief and lacks specific detail. To improve, ensure that both sides of the argument receive balanced development and that your reasons are consistently supported with clear, logical explanations rather than general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'To begin with,' 'However,' and 'In conclusion,' to guide the reader. However, the use of linking words is sometimes mechanical or slightly misused, such as 'In context to this' or 'Furthermore' when introducing a point that does not logically follow the previous one. Additionally, some sentences are run-on or lack clear transitions, which occasionally disrupts the flow of your argument. Improving the variety and precision of your cohesive devices will help achieve a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your ideas, such as 'political propagandas,' 'inconvenience,' and 'subsidies.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'encountered with various news,' 'in replace to shien,' and 'economically more stronger.' These errors do not generally impede communication, but they do highlight a need for more precise usage. To reach a higher band, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('every nation are tried'), incorrect verb tenses ('has surprisingly turns out'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are also structurally confusing, such as 'In recent years. we have encountered with various news everyday where people are choosing...' These errors are noticeable and occur frequently, although they do not prevent the reader from understanding your overall message.
