Student answer (Band 6.5)
These days, people prefers to buy goods that are produced in their country rather than to import from some other countries. This is because of many reasons. Today, I will discuss about this in essay and will explain the main reasons behind this trend.
Firstly, the main reason is that residents of a country wants to support locals by helping them buying their grown products. With this economy of a place will also grow and producers are encouraged to produce more goods. Despite of this, there is alot of spam in the market, people have trust issues that if they buy imported goods they will be fooled by cheap quality products having expensive prices. For example, some people buy imported goods online through some online platforms. They receive false goods as the shown products in the images are good but the actual goods are made of cheap quality.
The other reason for giving priority to local products is that, people can easily access the goods they wanted to buy rather than to wait to get that product if they import it from other country. Moreover, if people get false product they can easily return it to the seller. If they bought imported product its also difficult for them also to return the product. For instance, in 2016, users returned 45% to the defected products in India because they received the false products online that were imported from some other countries.
In conclusion, i would say that according to my viewpoint, thus trend is positive as it help local people earn more money and also helps in the the economy of the country. Locals are also encourage to produce and grow more and it also gives employment to people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether this is a positive trend. The ideas are relevant, such as supporting the local economy and avoiding the risks of online shopping for imported goods. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'spam' and 'trust issues' is a bit vague and could have been better articulated as 'concerns regarding product quality and authenticity'. The conclusion clearly states your position, but the overall depth of the arguments could be improved to reach a higher band by providing more nuanced analysis rather than just listing points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the logical progression is slightly disjointed, such as the transition into the example about online shopping. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'Despite of this' which does not logically connect to the preceding sentence. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate to convey your meaning, but it lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You rely on basic phrasing, such as 'false goods' or 'grown products', which are not the most natural collocations. There are also some word-choice errors, such as 'defected products' instead of 'defective products'. To improve, you should focus on learning more sophisticated vocabulary related to economics and consumer behavior, and pay closer attention to collocations to ensure your word choices sound natural and precise in an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people prefers', 'residents... wants') and preposition usage (e.g., 'discuss about this'). There are also errors in sentence construction, such as 'if they buy imported goods they will be fooled by cheap quality products having expensive prices'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and refining your use of complex sentence structures will significantly improve your accuracy.
