Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local goods and the opinion on whether this is a positive trend. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention cost and support for small businesses, the arguments could be extended with more depth or nuance. For instance, you could discuss environmental benefits or the quality of local versus imported goods to provide a more comprehensive answer. The examples provided, such as the reference to India and the 'LOCAL STORIES' Instagram page, are relevant and help support your points effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'This is because', 'Thus', and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, though some sentence structures are slightly repetitive. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to the clarity of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task. Phrases like 'consumerism society', 'socio-economic differences', and 'gross development progress' show an attempt to use more sophisticated language. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'shopping imported things' (should be 'purchasing imported goods') and 'corporate local businesses' (likely meant 'support' or 'foster'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Expanding your range of collocations would improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the cost of the local things' (article usage), 'each and every person can purchase it' (subject-verb agreement), and 'provides a platform to corporate local businesses' (incorrect verb usage). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some unnecessary capitalizations (e.g., 'LOCAL STORIES'). Despite these errors, the meaning is consistently clear, and the errors do not significantly hinder the reader's understanding of your arguments.
