THE STATEMENT IS BELOW

Prompt: Your neighbour has been playing loud music late at night. Write an email to your building manager.

In your email:

- Describe the noise problem

- Explain how it affects you

- Suggest a solution (e.g. quiet hours)

- Request that the manager address the issue

MY REPOSNE IS BELOW

Dear Sir/Madam,

The purpose of my writing today is to lodge a complaint regarding the disturbance caused by loud music late at night.

Addressing the problem, the noise is disrupting my sleep for the last 10 days, as my neighbour John continuously plays music  till midnight, even after I have informed him multiple times. Additionally, I would like to mention that I am working on significant projects, which have strict deadlines, that need my immediate attention.

Considering the solution, in particular, I would suggest that you should give him a verbal warning, along with some strict penalties, if he repeats the same mistake again.

Certainly, an effective communication will play a key role in sorting this in a peaceful way. To add to this, I would appreciate it if you could inform him, either to use headphones or play the music on weekends, which would be beneficial for both of us.

I sincerely value your support in this matter. Additionally, keeping open and consistent communication with each other would be highly beneficial.

Yours sincerely,

Varinderjit

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have addressed all parts of the prompt effectively. You clearly described the noise problem, explained its impact on your work and sleep, suggested a reasonable solution, and formally requested action from the manager. The tone is appropriate for a formal complaint. However, the content is slightly repetitive in the final paragraphs, where you discuss communication twice. To improve, ensure each paragraph introduces a distinct point to avoid redundancy. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task well.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The email is logically organized with a clear structure. You use transition signals such as 'Additionally', 'Considering the solution', and 'To add to this' to guide the reader. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the problem, the solution, and the closing. While the flow is generally good, some of the transitions feel slightly mechanical. To reach a higher band, try to vary your cohesive devices and ensure that the progression between sentences feels more natural rather than relying on standard list-like connectors.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task. Phrases like 'lodge a complaint', 'significant projects', and 'strict deadlines' are used correctly and fit the formal context. There are no significant spelling or word-choice errors that impede communication. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations or less common vocabulary to show greater flexibility. For example, instead of 'sorting this', you could use 'resolving this matter'. Your vocabulary is functional and appropriate for the requested formal tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

You show a good command of grammar with a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. The sentence 'The purpose of my writing today is to lodge a complaint...' is well-constructed. There is a minor tense error in 'the noise is disrupting my sleep for the last 10 days', which should be 'has been disrupting' to reflect an action starting in the past and continuing to the present. Despite this, your control over punctuation and sentence structure is generally strong, and your meaning is always clear to the reader.
