Student answer (Band 6.5)
There has been a noticeable increase in the sales of local goods due to their better quality and affordable prices whereas the imported goods are bought less by the consumers. The following essay will scrutinize the common reasons for it before presenting my opinions.
Firstly, the reasons behind this shift from imported goods to local markets is the quality. Goods which are grown in the local farms of the country are more safe and preservative free. These are grown up there and then after harvesting it they are directly sold in the market whereas , the imported good are first sent to industries after they are harvested. goods are then totally drowned into preservatives and ample of chemicals due to which they remain the same for even 2-3 months. For instance, a research was conducted in Germany where scientists picked two cucumbers one from the industries and other from the farm. Then dipped them into acids which are present in stomach , the results were shocking one which was naturally grown got digested through the acids normally but the one with preservatives just unbalanced the PH level of the acids and got difficult to digest.
secondly, this trend has left a positive impact on the income of local farmers who were about to quit farming because of imported goods. Local employment rates have also seen a booming trend.
In the end I would like to state that it can seen as a positive trend because it is benificiary for the health of the individuals living the town also for the farmers who work hard day and night.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative. The ideas are relevant, particularly the focus on health benefits and economic support for local farmers. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The example regarding the German cucumber study is quite specific but feels slightly anecdotal and lacks a clear connection to the broader economic argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that the explanation of the 'positive trend' is more balanced and fully explored, perhaps by briefly acknowledging potential counter-arguments or providing more depth on the environmental impact of reduced transportation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. The use of linking words like 'Firstly', 'secondly', and 'In the end' helps guide the reader through the argument. However, the cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as the transition between the discussion of preservatives and the cucumber example. Additionally, some sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, which affects the overall smoothness of the text. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring better sentence-level connectivity would enhance the score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at using more specific terminology, such as 'preservative free' and 'booming trend'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'grown up there' instead of 'grown locally' and 'drowned into preservatives' instead of 'treated with preservatives'. The range is sufficient to communicate the main points, but the lack of more sophisticated or precise academic vocabulary limits the score. Focusing on collocations and more formal synonyms will help elevate the lexical quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding article usage ('the industries', 'the farm'), subject-verb agreement, and punctuation (e.g., the spacing around commas and the lack of capitalization for 'secondly'). Some sentences are structurally awkward, such as 'one which was naturally grown got digested through the acids normally'. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the accuracy of basic grammar and refining complex sentence construction is recommended.
