Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether it is a positive trend. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While the reasons (economic support, subsidies) are relevant, the explanation of why this is a positive trend is somewhat muddled, particularly in the fourth paragraph where the argument becomes contradictory and difficult to follow. The conclusion is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. To improve, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea and provide a clear, finished conclusion that summarises your position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical use of cohesive devices. For example, the transition 'in result' is non-standard, and the use of 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' is somewhat repetitive. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'due to this money are stay in their country'. While there is an attempt to use linking words, the flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors, making the overall structure feel disjointed. Improving the variety of transition signals and ensuring clear subject-verb agreement would significantly enhance the coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There is frequent misuse of word forms, such as 'economical crisis' instead of 'economic crisis' and 'local manufactures' instead of 'local manufacturers'. Some phrases are repetitive, such as 'buying local product' and 'supporting local'. The student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary, but the lack of control over collocations and word choice often obscures the intended meaning. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise terms and focusing on correct word forms will help improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that often impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Various country has notify', 'money are stay'), incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles. Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity, such as 'which will going like by citizens'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing commas. To reach a higher band, you must focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage, before attempting more complex structures.
