Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is fact that consumers have plenty of option available in the world to purchase goods and some people are rapidly choosing to buy things that are made in their local area rather than imported products. In my opinion this is a positive trend to buy product that are produced in their area. All the reasons and relevant examples will be discussed further.
First and foremost reason is that increasing demand of purchasers for local products rather than international goods, because people can buy in cheaper price for a same product and they trust more to their local area goods, apart form this they can save import taxes and providing income source to the local employers. For Instance, local employers can earn money by selling their products and get some recognition from the product. It is a very positive way to promote good that are made in their local area.
In addition, the quality of imported goods are not trustable and they may get difficulty to identify the products whether it is original or not. For example, there are various cases happened of fake imported goods distributing in the market so people are afraid of being scammed by sellers. While products that are made in their local area is more sustainable and original, so people trust them and it is easier way to get products in cheaper price and exchange products if damage occurs.
To conclude, it is good trend that most individuals purchase good that are produced in their local area, as they get lots of benefits in different ways, also it is helpful for smaller employers as they can generate some amount of money by selling products.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the writer's opinion on whether it is positive. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention economic benefits and trust, the arguments remain superficial and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'import taxes' is mentioned but not clearly explained in relation to the consumer's decision. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples with more specific details or logical consequences. The position is clear throughout, but the overall development is basic, which aligns with the descriptors for a band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'In addition', and 'To conclude' to link your points. However, some of the transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'apart form this they can save import taxes'. Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall readability of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'local area goods' and 'products that are made in their local area'. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'plenty of option' (should be 'options') and 'get difficulty' (should be 'have difficulty'). To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and precise collocations related to economics and consumer behavior to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally affect clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'the quality of imported goods are' (should be 'is') and 'there are various cases happened' (should be 'have happened'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma splices. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct verb tenses will significantly improve your accuracy.
