Student answer (Band 5.5)

Few local consumers higly recommand to purchase stuff from their surrounding areas intead of buying it from ouside sources. I believe thats great that they are supporting their local sellers which help them earn money and provide fresh but not all the varities and options are available in market.

Firstly i will say that, purchasing stuff from local vendor help them in earning money and we provide them employment. if a local manufacturers are producing goods to it will cost less and provided easily to supplyers becuaseof that it will easily available to consumers at low costs whereas if all the baisc goods will be imported even a simple thing will cost high. Moreover, it also help people to consume health and fresh vegetables and fruits. like in my surrounding there is a farmers market which opens on satuday and sunday on weekends 8 am in morning. where, people like to buy due tio freshness. whereas if it is impoted those are totally vaccinated with chemicals which cause harm to our body.

on the other hand, if i am from india and currently living in canada those goods which i consume may not all available in the local market that will mkae troble for me. like as a indian my basic meal is roti and sabji means bread and curry. for those are only provided in india here if if not availe in market there will be no option left for me. if, impoted material is also available that going to create a balance by paying a little more amount of money.

In conclusion, its important to support local vendors which provide employment and fresh stuff but due to not all goods are available due to that we also need impoted goods

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the evaluation of the trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention economic benefits and freshness, the explanation remains superficial. For instance, the argument regarding imported goods being 'vaccinated with chemicals' is an over-generalization and lacks a balanced perspective. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly explored to reach a higher band. To improve, ensure that your reasons are supported by more logical, well-reasoned explanations rather than relying on anecdotal or overly simplistic claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Firstly i will say that' and 'on the other hand' are used, but the transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between local manufacturers and supply chains is difficult to follow. Improving the flow between sentences and using a wider variety of linking words would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'stuff', 'good', and 'things' throughout the essay. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'recommand', 'intead', 'ouside', 'varities', 'baisc', 'satuday', and 'impoted', which occur frequently. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the high frequency of spelling mistakes hinder the overall quality. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to economics and trade, and proofread your work carefully to catch basic spelling errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('local manufacturers are producing... it will cost less'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'I believe thats great that they are supporting their local sellers which help them earn money and provide fresh but not all the varities and options are available in market.' These errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and punctuation before attempting more complex structures.
