Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary world, people like to buy products from local areas instead of imported ones. I believe that this is a positive change.

To commence with, there are some reason why people believe goods from local areas are better. The first one is goods from local or rural areas are more superior as well as fresh. To elaborate, if a person buy vegetables or fruit from local it may has more nutritional value then the imported frozen one. Another reason is that the products from local market has more quality and quantity with best prices. For example, the goods from local market may has less production value and can be selled in cheaper price as compare to imported products. To explain, imported products may charged more, because they have to get some profit and money they spend in importing.

Moreover, local products can benefit consumer as well as selleels. To explain it, consumer can get fresh products and for small business owner or for poor people the money they get will help them in fulfilling their basic needs. Furthermore, this trend will also help in building the economy of nation. This may reduce poverty line. if people start buying products from local shops, with that money workers may get basic things for their families and may educate their children with it

In conclusion, In my opinion, this is a positive trend, as it helps poor local peoples and it is benefical for economy of the nation. as well as it helps consumers to get fresh and quality of products.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and the writer's opinion on whether it is positive. The ideas are relevant, such as freshness, economic benefits, and support for local businesses. However, the development is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument regarding 'production value' is unclear and could have been better explained with a concrete example. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting points are somewhat generic, which limits the score to a 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Another reason', and 'Moreover', though some are used mechanically. There is a tendency to repeat similar linking phrases. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors, which makes the progression feel slightly disjointed at times. Overall, the structure is sufficient for a 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several instances of awkward word choices or incorrect collocations, such as 'more superior' (redundant), 'selled' (incorrect verb form), and 'production value' (incorrect usage). The range is limited, and the writer relies on basic terms like 'good' or 'things'. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('if a person buy', 'it may has', 'products... has'), incorrect verb forms ('may charged'), and missing articles. While the meaning is generally conveyed, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to verb tenses and pluralisation is required.
