Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, buyers have started prefering local products over imported stuff. This essay will explain the actual reasons of this trend and discuss why it is a positive trend.
The predominant reason behind is to support small businesses which are in need to run their generation old shops. This is becuase, many overseas companies are producing all th products at way ceaper prise using cheap labour, mass production and latest technologies. This can lead to a problem for small shop owners to compete against them. As a result, people working at local business loss jobs and shops get closed permenantly.
Another factor is that money spent in a local business stays in the country, assists in the improvement of the country's economy. Where as, when consumers import goods from a diffrent nation the spent money goes out country to another, that money could have helped our local shops, in reality it is helping other country's businesses.
In my persperctive, it is a positive trend. As people are getting aware about how important it is to buy from local stores as it contribute to their own country's growth. Furthermore, due to the advancement of internet and globalization people can easily buy or imported stuff from anywhere in the world, that has demolished the local shops who cannot practically compete against giant international business. As a result, many local factories and shops got shut down.
To conclude, buying localy produced helps the shop owners and improves the GDP growth are the primary reasons for this trend. I believe this is a positive trend.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the opinion on whether it is positive or negative. The ideas are relevant, such as supporting small businesses and economic growth. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why the trend is positive in the fourth paragraph is slightly repetitive and lacks depth regarding the broader societal or environmental benefits. The position is clear throughout, but the arguments could be more fully extended to reach a higher band. Overall, the response covers all requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the reasons for the trend to the writer's personal perspective. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Where as' (which should be one word) and the transition 'In my persperctive'. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different stages of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There are several spelling errors, such as 'prefering', 'becuase', 'th', 'ceaper', 'prise', 'permenantly', 'diffrent', and 'localy'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the message. The student relies on basic vocabulary like 'stuff', 'good', and 'bad' (implied). To improve, the student should focus on using more academic collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of common words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('people working at local business loss jobs'), missing articles, and incorrect word forms ('buying localy produced helps'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limits the score. The student needs to focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining sentence structure.
