Student answer (Band 5.5)

nowadays, an increasing number of people choosing local goods over imported goods. This is mainly because people think local goods are cost effective and to support local vendors. I strongly believe this is a positive trend as it helps increase individual countries economy also reduces environmental pollution.

one of the main reason why consumers buy goods from locals is that, people find local items are affordable compared with foreign stocks, imported products often sells at double the price, for example tomato from different countries costs much more than local tomatoes, therefore, local products helps people by saving their money by providing the same items in a economic prices. as a result people are find native items are much more affordable then imported one.

I clearly see a positive trend and i support it, as it is beneficial for both native country as well as environment, buying items in own nation supports local dealers . for instance, consumer buys a item to locals, the local who pays taxes resulting in increasing the nation's economy, as a result a stable economy is taken place .additionally , it helps to reduce pollution produced by fuels for transporting goods, such as, transporting between countries may consume huge amount of fuels, therefore environment gets affected, it can be stooped buy reducing buying foreign products.

in conclusion, consumers prefer local goods over imported goods. is a uptrend as it supports native sellers and affordable, and it helps to improve country's economy and as well as reduce in fuel consumption.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for choosing local goods and the opinion on whether this is a positive trend. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention economic benefits and environmental impact, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the explanation of how local taxes increase the economy is quite basic. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning or specific examples beyond the mention of tomatoes and fuel consumption.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is a clear overall progression. You use some cohesive devices such as 'for instance', 'additionally', and 'in conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the phrase 'as a result a stable economy is taken place'. Additionally, some sentences are poorly connected, making the flow feel a bit disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. You rely on basic terms like 'goods', 'items', and 'products' repeatedly. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'foreign stocks' instead of 'imported goods' and 'economic prices' instead of 'economical prices'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of precise, academic vocabulary prevents the essay from achieving a higher score. Try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations related to economics and environmental sustainability.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('imported products often sells'), missing articles ('buying items in own nation'), and awkward phrasing ('a stable economy is taken place'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several instances of incorrect comma usage and missing capital letters at the start of sentences. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity and professional tone of the writing.
