In recent years , there has been a noticeable shift in consumer behaviour, with perchaging locally manufactured product as comparison to foriegn products. This essay will discuss the main drivers behind this movement, which include enviormental concerns and community support, and argue that this is highly benificial development.
The growing prefrence for local merchandise is fueled by main factors.First is the heightend awareness of enviormental sustainability. Imported goods require extensive transport via ship and palnes. resulting in great greenhouse gas emmision. By choosing the items nearby, consumer reduce thier corbon footprints. Secondaly, people are increasingly motivated to boost thier domestic economy. Purchasing from the regional farmer and businessmen keep wealth within the community which will help to secure local jobs and foster the social cohension.
This trend should be viewed as overwhelmingly productive for both society and the planet. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and expressing a clear position. However, the response falls slightly short of the 250-word minimum, which impacts the development of ideas. While the reasons (environmental concerns and economic support) are relevant, the supporting arguments in the second body paragraph are somewhat disjointed and lack clarity, particularly the example regarding global arguments. The position is consistent, but the under-length and the lack of depth in the second paragraph prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure each point is fully elaborated with clear, logical examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'First', 'Secondaly', and 'In conclusion' are used to signal the structure. However, the flow within the second body paragraph is hindered by awkward phrasing and unclear transitions, such as 'For example when there are some globle arguement'. The referencing is sometimes mechanical, and the progression of ideas is occasionally interrupted by grammatical errors. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are frequent spelling errors that distract the reader, such as 'perchaging', 'foriegn', 'enviormental', 'emmision', 'thier', and 'lgoble'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'sustainability', 'carbon footprints', and 'economic degradation', the high frequency of spelling mistakes and occasional word-choice inaccuracies (e.g., 'bulit' instead of 'builds') limit the score. To reach a higher band, focus on proofreading for common spelling patterns and ensuring that words are used in their correct collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('purchasing... keep wealth'), article misuse, and awkward sentence construction ('as comparison to foriegn products'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces placed incorrectly before commas. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence structure prevent the response from achieving a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy will be essential for improvement.
