Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, more and more people are buying products from their local market than the items produced worldwide. This essay will explore the reasons for this trend.
There are many reasons for boycotting the imported goods. Firstly, the products will be available in a reasonable rate. For instance, the price for the apples are cheaper than the dates in the market of Canada. This has a low price because there is no taxes for the items which are locally make. As a result, common people can afford to buy these products. Secondly, people are trying to help the suppliers from their own region. The local manufactures are finding very difficult to compete with the international corporates. Therefore, by supporting the regional manufactures people are giving them a chance to stand in the market.
However, there is a big problem by not buying the products which are produced in another countries. To start with, they are missing the best technology which are available in the global market. For instance, if a nation do not have a good automobile factory, they will have to satisfied with what are available to them. This will make them not getting best options which are available in this world.
To conclude, even though the reasons for purchasing locally are helping people and affordability, they are missing the options to get best. I strongly believe that it is a negative trend because when we have options for choosing through worldwide online stores, why are we limiting our shopping capacity.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and an opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The reasons provided (affordability and supporting local suppliers) are relevant but could be expanded with more depth. The discussion on the negative aspects is slightly underdeveloped, as the argument regarding 'technology' is not fully explained or linked clearly to the consumer experience. The position is clear throughout, but the supporting arguments lack the depth required for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'However', and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise. For example, the transition between the benefits of local goods and the drawbacks of missing global technology could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall progression of ideas is easy to follow, though the logical links between sentences could be more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at topic-specific vocabulary like 'international corporates' and 'global market'. However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'reasonable rate' instead of 'reasonable price', 'locally make' instead of 'locally made', and 'satisfied with what are available'. These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a limited range and occasional inaccuracy in word choice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of the writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the price for the apples are', 'a nation do not have'), incorrect verb forms ('locally make'), and awkward phrasing ('this will make them not getting best options'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to verb tenses and pluralization is needed.
