Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether it is a positive trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'delivery and shipping costs' is a good point, but the explanation of how local production benefits the economy is quite generic. Furthermore, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement (245 words), which necessitates a penalty. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples with more specific detail and ensure the essay meets the length requirement to fully develop your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'First', and 'To conclude' to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'As, the world is advancing every day, so are the prices...'. Additionally, there are some issues with referencing and sentence flow that occasionally make the text feel disjointed. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will help improve the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. You use some basic errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'thier' instead of 'their', 'headen' instead of 'hidden', and 'affortable' instead of 'affordable'. While the meaning is generally clear, these errors and the reliance on simple vocabulary limit the score. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and ensure you proofread for common spelling mistakes. Using more academic vocabulary would also help elevate the tone of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with article usage ('the goverment'), subject-verb agreement ('its motivates'), and punctuation (unnecessary commas). Some sentences are also slightly awkward, such as 'deciding to purchasing locally'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity. Focusing on consistent subject-verb agreement and refining your use of articles will significantly improve your grammatical accuracy.
