Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays people buy goods from the local area rather than imported goods it can cause both negative and positive impact. I will explain both the impact in detail

The positive impact is that people can know the difference the product they are buying as well as which one is better because many customers always choose the product which is cheaper and they can know the difference in the quality of the product, Although it can increase the sales and demand for the local brands and they can also help in economic development for the country. On an average customers when go for shopping in malls or supermarket they always want to save money and they choose the one which is cheaper for an example biscuit brand like Hide&Seek ,Oreo etc they are expensive for some people ,many local vendors knows so they make same kind of product in cheap prize

However the negative impact is whenever you buy some product for cheap you dont know what is the making and items they are using and if we compared it with expensive product they might be costly but they always use the best thing for there buyers. In fact many local vendors use those items which are not good for health and cause many health problems which will cost you more than the expensive items.

So i would suggest that whenever you buy something ,Customers should be aware of the making behind it so that you can save yourself from health issue

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for choosing local goods and the evaluation of the trend. However, the development is limited. The reasons provided are somewhat repetitive, focusing heavily on price rather than broader factors like sustainability or community support. The position on whether the trend is positive or negative is not clearly articulated; the essay presents both sides but lacks a cohesive argument or a clear stance. The ideas are under-developed, and the examples, such as the mention of specific biscuit brands, are not fully integrated into a broader discussion, which limits the depth of the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and sometimes inaccurate way, such as the repetitive use of 'The positive impact is' and 'However the negative impact is'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow of ideas within paragraphs is disjointed. The lack of sophisticated linking words makes the argument feel like a list of points rather than a well-structured essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'good for health', 'cheap prize' (instead of 'price'), and 'making behind it' are imprecise and demonstrate a limited range. There is little attempt to use less common lexical items or idiomatic language. Word choice errors, such as 'making' for 'manufacturing process' or 'items' for 'ingredients', occasionally hinder the precision of the argument. To improve, the student should focus on using more academic vocabulary related to economics and consumer behavior.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles, incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'many local vendors knows'), and punctuation issues. Complex sentences are rarely attempted, and when they are, they often contain errors that affect clarity, such as the run-on sentence in the introduction. Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are inconsistent throughout the text. The errors are frequent and sometimes cause difficulty for the reader, though the overall meaning remains generally understandable.
