Student answer (Band 5.0)

A few seller like to buy the product of local market rather than imported from the other cities or countries. There are so many reasons as paid high tax, delivery issue, time consuming. I feel it is the positive development for the local market. I will explain the reasons and positive sides in the upcoming paragrapghs.

Producers pay high tax from the good when they imported something from the other side like if they want to purchase any 13% of the tax they have to pay before buying. So they do not earn anything from the products even they spend more on the things. However, it is also a very heactic work because sometime deliveries are not on time . It also wastage of time.

The positive side is that it help to grow the local community's economy growth. Even the things are usually original and hand made. They do not spend more time or wait for anything . Infact, they do not need to pay the high taxes. Secondary they get buy anything on the local market rate which is not high. For example, nepal local market is very low as compare to the outsider local markets.

To conclude, I feel that people save their money to not paying tax and also save their time. It also give the good opportunity for local market to sell their things in local area rather than imported their goods.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for buying local and expressing a clear position that it is a positive trend. However, the development of ideas is limited and lacks depth. The explanation regarding taxes and delivery issues is somewhat confusing and lacks clarity. Furthermore, the response is under the 250-word minimum length requirement, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the arguments. To improve, you should provide more detailed examples and ensure your explanations are logically structured to meet the word count and depth expectations of an IELTS Task 2 essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the transition 'Secondary they get buy anything'. The progression of ideas is occasionally disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the link between taxes and delivery issues is not clearly articulated. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases more naturally to connect your sentences and paragraphs, ensuring that each idea flows logically into the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'A few seller like to buy' instead of 'consumers prefer to purchase' and 'heactic work' instead of 'logistical challenge'. The range of vocabulary is limited, which prevents a more sophisticated discussion of the topic. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to economics, trade, and consumer behavior, and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'it help to grow' (subject-verb agreement), 'not paying tax' (incorrect gerund usage), and 'as compare to' (incorrect prepositional phrase). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the simple sentences used often contain errors in tense or article usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Practicing complex sentences with subordinate clauses will also help increase your score.
