Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for buying local and whether it is a positive or negative trend. However, the development is uneven. The discussion on reasons is clear, but the evaluation of the trend is incomplete, as the essay ends abruptly mid-sentence. The example of Japan is detailed but contains historical inaccuracies regarding the total cessation of imports, which weakens the argument's logic. To improve, ensure you fully develop your position on the trend and provide more accurate, balanced supporting evidence. The conclusion is missing, which prevents a clear summary of your position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay uses basic paragraphing and some cohesive devices like 'First and foremost' and 'Moreover'. However, the flow is hindered by the incomplete ending. The logical progression is generally clear, but the transition between the reasons and the example of Japan is somewhat abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'This financially literate people', where the determiner does not match the plural noun. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring a complete structure would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'financially literate', 'social reform', and 'vulnerable situation'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'popular vocal' instead of 'popular trend', 'well verse of' instead of 'well-versed in', and 'local manufacture products' instead of 'locally manufactured products'. These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To reach a higher band, focus on using collocations correctly and expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('people witnesses', 'this financially literate people'), incorrect verb forms ('start promoting to buy'), and missing articles. Punctuation is generally functional, but the incomplete final sentence is a significant error. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of basic grammatical rules, particularly regarding pluralization and verb tense consistency.
