Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0
The response is significantly under-length at only 71 words, failing to meet the 250-word minimum requirement. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While the introduction attempts to outline the topic, the essay stops abruptly after only one sentence of the first body paragraph. The ideas are not developed, and the prompt's requirements regarding the reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive or negative remain largely unaddressed. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full, structured essay that explores all parts of the prompt with sufficient supporting evidence and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response is too short to demonstrate a logical progression of ideas or effective paragraphing. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'Firstly', the text cuts off before these can be used to build a coherent argument. The lack of a complete structure makes it impossible to assess your ability to manage cohesion or paragraphing effectively. You need to focus on completing the full essay structure, including a clear introduction, well-developed body paragraphs with topic sentences, and a concluding summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and contains several errors, such as 'hasbecoming' (has become) and 'behid' (behind). There is also a lack of precision, such as 'local product' instead of 'locally produced goods'. The range of vocabulary is very limited, which is expected given the extremely short length of the response. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary related to economics, trade, and consumer behavior, while ensuring correct spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. Examples include 'hasbecoming noticeable trend' (missing article), 'instead imported goods' (missing preposition 'of'), and 'consumers are increasingly choose' (incorrect verb form). The sentence structures are simple and contain errors in tense and word choice. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions. You should also practice proofreading your work to catch simple errors in spelling and word formation.
