Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent times, it is often seen so many consumers are increasingly buying goods that are produced in local area. There are multiple reasons for this trend, such as to support local market, trust on local goods or items. I personally believe, this is a positive trend rather than considering as a negative.
The first and foremost reasons for this trend could be trust on local product. To explain, there are so many people who prefer buy the local items because they believe it may last for long. Furthermore, if something happens to these products, they would go to the shopkeeper or seller, and they may find a resolution for the same. The second could be to support local economy. Nowadays, people are very much aware about almost everything that is happening in the world. So, they also know the situation of local market and the rise of employment opportunities if they support it. Therefore, they prompt and buy local items to escalate the local economy.
Having seen the reasons behind the trend I would say it is a positive development. To explain, buying a local item could be cost saving. At present time, people are mad to buy exotic items at any given cost, but the same item from the local area could be available at minimal cost. So, if someone buys if from the local area, they are not only saving the money but also supporting the local economy as well. The second could be exposure to the local items. To describe, when someone buys a local item in this exotic world, they are eventually prompting local market and items. Thus, when next time someone sees them, it may indulge them to try the same and this way local market grows.
To conclude, yes, as far as I concern buying the local items from the local place is far more positive attitude.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and clearly stating a position that it is a positive development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'trust' is a bit vague, and the explanation of 'exposure to local items' is repetitive and lacks clarity. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting arguments would benefit from more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The ideas are relevant, but they remain at a surface level, which is characteristic of a Band 6 performance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Therefore', and 'To conclude'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Having seen the reasons behind the trend I would say...'. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as 'the same' or 'it may indulge them', which occasionally forces the reader to re-read to understand the intended meaning. The progression of ideas is generally coherent, but the flow could be smoother with more varied linking words.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'exotic items' and 'escalate the local economy', though the collocation is sometimes slightly off (e.g., 'prompt and buy' or 'indulge them to try'). There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'trust on local goods' instead of 'trust in local goods'. The range is sufficient to communicate the message, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as missing articles ('in local area'), subject-verb agreement issues ('The first and foremost reasons... could be'), and awkward phrasing ('it is often seen so many consumers'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent. The student attempts complex structures, but they are often faulty, which limits the score. To improve, the student should focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles and prepositions, before attempting more complex sentence patterns.
