Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays many customers believe that buying goods that are harvested in their local area is good instead of imported products. There can be several reasons for this, which I will explain in the upcoming passages.
Firstly, people are choosing healthy and organic versions of goods and it is available in their local surrounding that would be great for them because they have an easy approach to whatever they want to buy. Moreover, it is convenient for them to get all goods within a short time. This could be a trustworthy step for them as well as they know the person and they could trust them well rather than trusting an unknown brand or merchandise. Another reason could be that the products that are being produced in their local area can give them a feeling of authenticity that cannot be found elsewhere.
On the contrary, this can also result in negative trend as well. Sometimes the local products do not have much varieties and they are not as good as the imported ones. Such as, different food selections or even in clothing, quality could vary on the local production. Another reason for this, local vendors sometimes charge extra for their expenses and that can lead to a big clash in the market.
To conclude, I think this trend has both negative and positive impact on society and surroundings as well. Some people are choosing to buy goods from their local markets, whereas imported products has their own worth and importance.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend and discussing its positive and negative aspects. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the point about 'authenticity' is mentioned but not explained, and the discussion on negative impacts lacks specific examples beyond general statements about variety and price. Furthermore, the response is slightly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the argument. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and concrete examples to ensure a more thorough exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'On the contrary' to link sentences. However, the flow between some ideas is a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Such as, different food selections or even in clothing, quality could vary on the local production.' Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'organic', 'authenticity', and 'merchandise'. However, there is a reliance on simpler, repetitive language, and some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'easy approach' instead of 'easy access' or 'big clash' to describe market competition. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary to express your ideas with greater nuance and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'imported products has their own worth' (subject-verb agreement) and 'result in negative trend' (missing article). Additionally, some sentences are slightly awkward in their construction. To improve, focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and refining your sentence structure to reduce the frequency of these minor errors, which will help your writing appear more polished and accurate.
