Student answer (Band 5.5)
The number of the customers who like to shop products that are made locally is getting bigger in comparizon with the people who like to buy imported stuff.
One of the main reason for preffering native products are, the understanding between consumers and supplyers. Because of, most of the companies are owned by local owners, that made them more understandable for their own market needs which helps them to improve quality over quantity. For a reference, I am from Punjab, India. which have a diverse number of religions and sikhs are in huge number from them. which makes it have big demand of turbans and me personally know that the local products that I buyed was better in quality in comparizon of the stuff I have bought outside of my area. which is a good example of the manufacturer knows their buyers.
it is in possitive trend that also support the locals to build good society. Individuals who demands more local products in their reguler usage knows that if they are buying local products that will help the local companies to grow bigger and better. therefore some big companies do help local goverment for some infrastructure improvement which helps the companies as well as nearby areas. For example, More production do need more production which means they need more labour therefore, more job opportunities for locals.
In conclusion, I like to say that the number of people buying locally is increasing in possitive trend. which is helpfull for companies as well as the goverment to deliver better Quality to the native people and society

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and whether it is positive or negative. However, the development is inconsistent. While the idea of local knowledge and job creation is relevant, the explanation is often hindered by unclear phrasing, such as the attempt to explain the demand for turbans in Punjab. The argument is present but lacks the depth required for a higher band, as the connection between local production and societal benefits is somewhat repetitive and lacks specific, well-articulated examples. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments are not fully extended.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and sentence structure. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'therefore' and 'for example', but they are often placed incorrectly or used to connect ideas that do not logically follow one another. For instance, the transition between the discussion of local companies and infrastructure improvement is abrupt. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly with the use of 'which' to start new sentences, which creates a fragmented reading experience rather than a smooth progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'comparizon', 'supplyers', 'preffering', 'buyed', and 'possitive'. The student relies on basic vocabulary like 'stuff', 'big', and 'good', which restricts the ability to convey complex ideas precisely. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of control over word formation and the frequent spelling errors significantly impact the overall quality of the writing. A wider range of topic-specific vocabulary is needed to move beyond a basic level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that often impede the reader's understanding. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'One of the main reason... are'), sentence fragments (e.g., 'Because of, most of the companies...'), and incorrect punctuation. Complex sentence structures are attempted but are usually faulty, leading to run-on sentences or awkward phrasing. While simple sentences are generally accurate, the lack of control over more complex structures and the prevalence of basic errors in articles and verb tenses keep the score in the lower range.
