Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is commonly seen that in the current market many people prefer locally produced goods over the foreign or imported ones. This trend is in place due to some pragmatic reasons and I am inclined to mention that it is definitely a positive trend as it helps to develop their nation's economic situation and people spend less money by purchasing local products.
Examining the reasons why people prefer local products over international goods, the first important aspect is quality. They contend that when they buy local goods, they find it fresh than imported ones. Importing goods from other areas is a long and difficult process which takes many days even months to reach those commodities to local stores and during that time due to the storage conditions, transportation, and time gap quality of the good reduces and products get stale such as breads, meats and vegetables. On the other side, when they buy local goods it is always fresh as it directly come from the farms to local stores without any added preservations and buyers even consider local items with more nutritional values as these are grown locally without using any pesticides. In addition to this, people choose local items to support local businesses which cannot only provide the motivation to local manufacturers but also help the local economy to develop as many new business will open in their country when more and more local products are demanded by customers.
Supporting my opinion of considering it as a positive trend, the major idea is that it reduces the amount of taxes people pay on international good. As to import products from different countries, businesses pay hefty amount of good and service taxes, transportation charges, and freight expenses which in result are added to the price of those goods to sale and buyers are required to pay huge amount to purchase those items which makes those items costly than local products. Therefore, if people consider local products then they have to pay less price along with benefits such as fresh products, good quality and many more. Additionally, it is a part and parcel of developing their local economy, when demand of local products will rise to a level where huge supply is required then numerous local businessmen will get opportunities to open their stores. In result, more job opportunities, education facilities to develop skills related to business or required activities will establish to develop economy with support from society.
To conclude, people should always prefer to buy local goods first as it not only provide them fresh and good quality of products but also motivate generation to develop skills for opening local business. This trend plays a significant role in developing country's economy and people pay less taxes and price for locally produced products.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the trend (quality and economic support) and clearly stating a position that it is a positive development. Ideas are well-developed, particularly the discussion on freshness and the economic impact of local business growth. The argument is consistent throughout the essay. To reach a higher band, the student could provide more specific real-world examples rather than general statements, which would add depth to the supporting arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'In addition to this', 'Supporting my opinion', and 'To conclude' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, there are some instances of slightly mechanical transitions, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the reasons from the evaluation of the trend, ensuring a clear progression of ideas throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision, using terms like 'pragmatic reasons', 'commodities', and 'hefty amount'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'reach those commodities to local stores' (should be 'for those commodities to reach') and 'pay less price' (should be 'pay a lower price'). While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, it lacks the sophisticated, natural control required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the quality of the good'), subject-verb agreement ('it directly come'), and preposition usage. Complex structures are attempted, but they often contain minor errors that persist throughout the text. The punctuation is generally functional, but the control over sentence construction needs to be more consistent to achieve a higher band score.
