Student answer (Band 6.0)
Customers are choosing local goods over the imported items and there are two reasons. Rise in pressure and taxes from the United States and choosing local movement. In my opinion, it is a great opportunity to build manufacturing locally for the countries which highly survives on imported products.
Since the new President for the United States came in power, he infused a lot of tariffs on all the world. Countries like Canada and Mexico got an economic emergency and prices for trade goods saw a significant rise. However, Canadians started buying local foods to avoid high rates and they boycott products from other countries. That way consumer market is continuously increasing. India has also a lot of venders which were affected due to tariffs and the approach was to change the shelf products from imported to the surrounding products which are easily available.
Farmers from the nearby countryside were seeing a downfall in sell. In 1990 group of students started a movement called "Save farmers, buy local". This was a significant remark in history where slowly people started purchasing local farm food and dairy. Even though, before tariffs the imported milk was way cheaper than the country farm but to support local people started buying fairly expensive farm goods, just to save their local traders. In Europe, People are more inclined towards their health and try to buy their steak and dairy by looking at the process on the farm just to ensure the safety.
In conclusion, It is always good to choose local products over the imported ones to boost the overall economy and it is much cheaper as well. Another reason to buy goods locally is to support local people which are working hard to make living.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the evaluation of the trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The explanation regarding US tariffs is specific but perhaps too focused on one geopolitical event rather than broader economic or environmental reasons. The evaluation of the trend is present but lacks depth, relying on general statements like 'it is always good' without exploring the potential downsides or complexities of global trade. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced arguments and ensure that the reasons provided are fully explored rather than just listed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic attempt at progression, moving from reasons to historical examples and then to a conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'That way consumer market is continuously increasing' or 'This was a significant remark in history'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly rather than relying on simple sentence structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be understood. You attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'tariffs', 'economic emergency', and 'consumer market'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'infused a lot of tariffs' (should be 'imposed'), 'downfall in sell' (should be 'sales'), and 'surrounding products' (should be 'locally sourced products'). These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the range and precision of your expression, keeping the score in the mid-range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the United States', 'the country farm'), verb forms ('which highly survives'), and sentence fragments or awkward phrasing ('Rise in pressure and taxes... and choosing local movement'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in capitalization and comma usage. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as these errors occur frequently throughout the text.
