Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, Few Customers are increasingly choosing to purchase goods or products that are produced in their local area, instead of buying imported products. Although imported product gives more profit for retailers and government, buying locally will help local farmers and people's health which is becoming a positive trend. I believe this trend is more positive.
Imported goods are mostly packaged foods with added preservatives, because while importing the products the company would add more chemicals to keep the food for a long time. Which will cause some health problems for people especially children's and elderly people's. even though retailers getting more sales and government gaining profit by additional tax by imported products it has many drawbacks.
On the other hand, If you buy product which are made locally by the farmers in the area, the products are more fresh and no extra chemicals would be added and it helps farmers to grow and also helps our community. Despite this, there will be no additional taxes to pay, because of this people don't need to spend more to purchase things. through this, the number of people buying things in their surrounding is increasing.
In Conclusion, Although buying international products will help government to get tax but it will affect citizens health, therefore buying local product will help people to buy fresh and tax free product, In the same way it will help farmers to grow and build our environment more economically and ecofriendly. so I believe purchasing local product is a positive trend.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for choosing local goods and the evaluation of this trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention health benefits and support for local farmers, the arguments remain quite general and lack specific examples or deeper analysis. For instance, the discussion on 'imported goods' causing health problems is a strong point, but it could be expanded with more detail on the economic or environmental impact to reach a higher band. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of support for your arguments needs to be more substantial to fully satisfy the requirements for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'In Conclusion', and 'Although', which help the flow of the text. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, there are instances where the connection between sentences could be smoother; for example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is a bit abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'preservatives', 'imported products', and 'economically'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a tendency to repeat words such as 'products', 'goods', and 'help'. To improve, you should aim to use a wider range of synonyms and more sophisticated collocations. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'build our environment', which is not a standard collocation in this context. Expanding your vocabulary will help you express your ideas with more precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the government', 'the products'), pluralisation ('children's and elderly people's' is incorrect; it should be 'children and the elderly'), and subject-verb agreement. Some sentences are also fragmented or run-on, such as 'Which will cause some health problems...'. These errors do not usually impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your use of complex structures will significantly improve your writing.
