Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for buying local and the evaluation of the trend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'trust' and 'loyalty' is mentioned but not fully explored with concrete examples. The position is clear, but the explanation of why it is a positive trend relies on repetitive points about economy and pollution. To improve, you should provide more specific examples, such as the impact on local farmers or the specific environmental benefits of reduced 'food miles', to better support your claims and reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'In a recent years' and 'To recapitulate, nonetheless' are used incorrectly or awkwardly. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where sentences feel like a list of points rather than a cohesive argument. Improving the transition between sentences and using a wider variety of linking words more naturally would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'this is development brought positive many benefits' and 'fresh locals have fresh products'. The repetition of basic words like 'products', 'buy', and 'local' limits your score. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and synonyms, and ensure that your word forms (e.g., 'economy' vs 'economic') are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('customers is buying', 'people have faith... so customers prefer'), article usage ('in a recent years'), and sentence structure ('this is a long process. So, they belive it the quality of products become poor'). While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles, ensuring that your sentences are grammatically sound before attempting more complex forms.
