Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, there is a noticeable change in consumer's behaviour. People like to buy local products from local markets rather than imported products. I truly believe that this is a positive trend, there are so many reason that I will discuss in this essay and lead to a conclusion.
The primary reason for this is Fresh and natural products because imported products have some preservatives to make them fresh for long time which is not good for individual's health. Sellers of local market have fresh and organic products thats why people like to buy from them. For Instance, there is an experiment done by an instagram influencer , he buy a fresh apple from local seller and one from the international store where people find the imported things. when he tasted both of them he find a very big difference in taste. Apple from local area was more fresh and juicy but the other one was less sweet and taste was not fresh.
Another reason is development of local market. If people buy goods from local market it helps sellers of that area to grow and enhance their business. It represent that unity of love among people also. For Example, In Punjab, India people like to grow there own vegetables and fruit and sell that in local market. This is the reason price of fruit and vegetables are less than other states. Even , they don;t need to pay imported tax on the imported goods that helps them to save them some money.
In Conclusion, I firmly believe that this is a positive trend that helps local people to stay healthy with organic goods and also for the local business to grow. So, there is not any negative trend if people want to buy goods from there local area.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether it is a positive trend. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The example regarding the Instagram influencer is anecdotal and lacks the depth required for a high-band response. Furthermore, the explanation regarding 'imported tax' is slightly inaccurate and under-developed. To improve, you should provide more sophisticated reasoning, such as the environmental impact (carbon footprint) or the economic sustainability of local communities, rather than relying on simple health comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Another reason is', 'For Instance', 'For Example'). Some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'It represent that unity of love among people also.' Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the flow of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. However, the range is limited and there are several instances of awkward word choice or collocation, such as 'imported things' instead of 'imported goods' and 'less sweet and taste was not fresh'. The essay relies on basic vocabulary and lacks the 'less common' items that would demonstrate a higher level of lexical control. To achieve a higher band, focus on using more precise terminology related to economics and consumer behavior, and work on collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('there is a noticeable change', 'there are so many reason'), incorrect article usage ('the local market'), and punctuation errors ('don;t'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, you should focus on proofreading for basic errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency, and practice using more varied complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
