Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 213 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address the reasons for buying local and provide a position on whether it is a positive trend, the arguments are underdeveloped. For instance, the claim that local goods have 'no delivery charges and tax' is a generalization that lacks nuance or supporting evidence. To improve, you must expand your points with more detailed explanations and specific examples to ensure the task is fully addressed within the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a basic attempt at logical progression using transition words like 'firstly', 'secondly', and 'consequently'. However, the cohesion is often mechanical and sometimes awkward, such as 'Moving forward, if customer purchasing product locally'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences is somewhat repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, well-developed central theme that links smoothly to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple terms like 'good', 'products', and 'local'. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'upgrade local business' (better: 'boost local businesses') and 'trust positively on local markets' (better: 'have confidence in local markets'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to economics and consumer behavior, and work on using collocations more accurately to convey your ideas with greater sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'support to domestic businesses' (should be 'support domestic businesses'), 'as the sales will increases' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'make it better place to live' (missing article). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly in the conclusion where a comma is used instead of a period. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and proofreading for basic sentence structure errors.
