Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is debate over the issue that people prefer to purchase goods that are made from local products, and by local people instead of buying the imported goods. There are a number of reasons associated with this. However, I personally feel that it has a positive impact on society. The following paragraphs will elucidate the reason, and my personal perspective about this trend. One of the main reasons is authenticity. Skeptics prefer to buy organic and local products because they know about the production of the products, and they are fresher than imported goods. To substantiate it, Wheat is grown in Northern parts of India, and farmers have vast knowledge about the fertilizers. Therefore, it is produced under supervision and with authentic methods. Secondly, local products are cheaper than imported goods. They are free from custom charges and handling charges. The products which are imported from another countries such as fruits and vegetables are usually frozen. Nobody knows about the production of these goods. Moreover, companies added harmful preservatives to protect the goods from damage. It has negative effects on health. For example, the grapes that are imported from Fiji, they have a layer of white color product, which does not go away after washing thoroughly. From my perspective, products grown locally are healthier, and have more nutritional values rather the frozen foods that are exported from other countries. To conclude this, globalization has made people live in bed of roses, however, sometimes the excessive use of imported products can cause issues in one's life. People can try the imported goods, but they need to give more priority to locally grown products.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and your opinion on whether it is positive or negative. Your position is clear from the introduction and maintained throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide specific examples like wheat in India and grapes from Fiji, the explanation of why this is a 'positive' trend is slightly underdeveloped. You focus heavily on the health benefits of local produce rather than exploring broader societal or economic impacts. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are balanced and fully explored in relation to the prompt's requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
Your essay follows a logical progression, moving from the reasons for the trend to your personal opinion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'One of the main reasons', 'Secondly', and 'Moreover' to link your ideas. However, the paragraphing is insufficient; the entire body of the essay is contained within one large block, which makes it difficult to follow the transition between different arguments. Additionally, some cohesive links are slightly mechanical. Improving your paragraph structure by separating distinct ideas into clear, individual paragraphs would significantly enhance the flow and readability of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'substantiate', 'authenticity', and 'preservatives' correctly. There are some instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'live in bed of roses' (which is used incorrectly here) and 'white color product'. Some word choices are also repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'goods' and 'products'. To improve, try to use more precise synonyms and idiomatic expressions that are contextually appropriate. Expanding your range to include more topic-specific collocations related to trade or agriculture would also help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally affect clarity. For example, 'There is debate over the issue that people prefer' is wordy, and 'the grapes that are imported from Fiji, they have' contains a redundant subject pronoun. There are also minor errors with articles and prepositions, such as 'from another countries' (should be 'other countries') and 'rather the frozen foods' (should be 'rather than'). While these errors do not prevent communication, they occur frequently enough to limit your score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and refining your use of complex sentence structures.
