Student answer (Band 6.0)

In thesedays people are giving more preference to buy goods from the local areas as compared to buy imported goods so in the upcoming paragraph i will discuss its reasons and explain that why it positive thing.

First of all, there are so many reasons due to which individuals like to buy local produced goods like they think that these goods are more fresh rather than imported goods because when imported goods come in these areas they took lot of time in travel and they become less fresh so people think local goods are more healthy for them because they do not have any pollution on them . secondly , in the local areas people have trust on the sellers so they think that they give them these items on fair price and do not do any cheat on them for example in india in most of the villages people like to buy vegetables ,milk and other dairy products from local area because they know each other very closely so they have trust on them that they will get the original goods without having any chemicals that are used on imported goods to keep them fresh.

Moreover, there are some benefits of this trend , when people buy goods from local area it increase the economy of that area which is goods for the sellers to grow their business and when people use local items more shopkeepers also have to hire more people to work overthere so in this it provide the employment to local people and they do not need to go far away for geeting job . Apart from this it is also good for local people's health because when they get things that are made without using any chemical and very fresh so keep people's health more fit .

To conclude, because of many reasons that are above mentioned in the first paragraph i think that it is positive trend and usefull for both buyers and sellers and local area to get economic support.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether it is a positive trend. The ideas are relevant, such as freshness, trust, and economic benefits. However, the development is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument about 'pollution' on imported goods is vague and could be better explained. The position is clear throughout, but the supporting examples, while relevant, are somewhat simplistic. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more sophisticated reasoning rather than just listing benefits.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices like 'First of all', 'secondly', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude' to link your points. However, the use of these devices is somewhat mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing or run-on sentences. For example, the transition between the reasons for buying local and the benefits of the trend could be smoother. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved to ensure ideas are more tightly connected.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'things', and 'items' repeatedly. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'do not do any cheat on them' and 'keep people's health more fit'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated or academic vocabulary limits the score. To improve, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to economics and consumer behaviour, and focus on using words in their correct collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include missing articles (e.g., 'in thesedays'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'they took lot of time'), and punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas and inconsistent capitalisation. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, you should focus on subject-verb agreement, proper use of articles, and refining your sentence punctuation to ensure your writing is more polished and professional.
