Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this day and age, some customers purchase native products as compare to international goods. Buyers prefer local items because it boost the economy of the nation and uplift the culture for the generations. As it benefits the citizen of country, I reckon that it is a positive trend.

The key reason for consumers to buy goods from local area is the price. Since the local products do not have imported taxes, those are relatively cost effective. A normal person can afford in their daily life. It will reduce the pressure on the economy of the country and assist the local start ups in the nation. Consequently, nation's financial condition enhances. For instance, India has started to utilize their own products rather than imported one, which helps them to improve their finances. Therefore, every nation should starts using their own products or produce the local alternative. Additionally, this trend helps to keep the country's culture alive. While people use the traditional products for their daily living, they can pass on their culture to youth. If every residents of nation starts to do the same, they can keep their culture alive. For example, some countries still prefer to wear their traditional clothes in regular days instead of other clothes and this keep their culture known to their younger generations. Hence, everyone should choose to stay connected with their roots.

I opine that It is a positive elements to buy the native goods. firstly, it motivates everyone to create local alternative by starting new businesses within the country. Secondly, every country can attract tourist to see their culture by holding on those local small businesses. Lastly, it decreases the dependency of our country on abroad.

In summary, customers prefer to purchase from locals rather than imported goods because it not only escalates the economy of country but also keeps our culture known to pass on to our children. I believe its positive trend as it affects the motivational aspect, tourism element, and independence of our country positively.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether it is a positive trend. The ideas are relevant, such as economic benefits and cultural preservation. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation of why local goods are cheaper due to a lack of import taxes is a good point, but the supporting example regarding India is vague and lacks specific detail. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more nuanced explanations rather than listing several points in the third paragraph, which makes the development feel slightly rushed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'consequently', 'for instance', and 'additionally' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. For instance, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is abrupt. Furthermore, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'those are relatively cost effective' where the antecedent is not perfectly established. Improving the flow between sentences and using a wider variety of cohesive markers would enhance the overall progression of your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'native products', 'financial condition', and 'dependency'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'uplift the culture', 'escalates the economy', and 'positive elements'. These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a lack of precision. To improve, focus on learning collocations (words that naturally go together) rather than just individual synonyms. For example, 'boost the economy' is more natural than 'escalate the economy'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it boost', 'every nation should starts', 'every residents of nation starts') and article usage (e.g., 'the economy of country'). There are also minor punctuation and capitalization issues, such as 'I opine that It is'. These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, pay closer attention to basic subject-verb agreement rules and proofread your work to catch these small but frequent slips.
