Student answer (Band 6.0)
The demand for choosing local market goods is increasing instead of products that are imported from other region. This essay will discuss the main reasons for the trend and explain why I believe it is a positive trend in the upcoming paragraphs.
The main reason of preferring local goods is the convenience. Local products are easily available in the market with cheaper price. Although imported goods are also available, the cost impact the budget of the individuals. For instance, a local made cloth is cheaper than the imported cloth of a brand because of transportation cost. Moreover, the products can easily be returned or replaced in local market, if there is any damage in the product. For example, a bicycle is easily returnable or replaceable in the local market instead to that which is purchased from overseas.
On the other hand, I believe that it is a positive trend as it will help to support the local community. If local products gets the preference of being chosen over the foreign goods then it will motivate them to make more products. As a result, manufacturing sector gets a boost which will also support the economy of the country. To exemplify this, using locally made goods will impact the import sector and if the export sector is greater than the import sector, the economy of a country rise.
In conclusion, the rising trend of using local made products is due to the cheaper price with more availability and the easy to exchange procedures. Nevertheless, it is a positive trend because it will support the local market and the economy of the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the trend and the evaluation of whether it is positive. The ideas are relevant, such as convenience, price, and economic support. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the economy is a bit simplistic and could have been extended with more specific detail on how local manufacturing creates jobs. The position is clear throughout the essay, but the depth of analysis remains at a surface level. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully explored with more nuanced reasoning rather than just stating the benefit.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', which help the flow of ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'instead to that which is purchased', which is awkward. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'manufacturing sector' and 'exchanged procedures'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice or awkward collocations, such as 'local made cloth' (should be 'locally-made clothing') and 'the economy of a country rise' (should be 'rises'). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but more precise and varied vocabulary would be needed for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the local market', 'the import sector'), subject-verb agreement ('local products gets'), and prepositional usage ('instead to that'). These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, the writer should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that complex sentence structures are constructed correctly, as the current control over these is inconsistent.
