Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is a argued that Most of the people in our society likes to buy things from local areas which included different kind of things like fruits, vegetables, clothes and many other things for daily life rather than imported one. I also strongly believe to buy things from local areas because if we buy thing from our people it gives profit to both seller and buyer and we can also have fresh things in a day rather than a whole day wait it we import it from another country or city.

Firstly ,I agree to buy things from local area because it gives profit to both seller and buyer .Here I want to tell you why. The main reason is seller have more sales locally like if seller comes in the morning then off-course have more clients on daily basis. Like if some body have a home vegetables and have a good contacts then off-course clients will Love to buy fresh vegetables daily.

It also profitable and consume less cost from the both side(seller and buyer)

Additionally, consumers have fresh vegetables and fruits on daily basis. If a local farmer gets a fruits in the evening it will be available for sale without consuming time and money for import and export.

In conclusion, I strongly agree to buy goods from local area rather than imported goods because of fresh goods and it also save money. Most of the people want to buy thing locally, rather then imported thing from another city or country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for buying local and the opinion on whether it is a positive trend. However, the development is quite limited. The arguments regarding profit and freshness are repetitive and lack depth or specific examples. The essay relies on generalizations rather than well-supported points. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your ideas with more detailed explanations or real-world examples, such as the environmental impact of food miles or the economic benefits to local communities, rather than simply stating that it saves money.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. While there are some cohesive devices used, such as 'Firstly' and 'Additionally', they are often used mechanically or incorrectly. The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'If a local farmer gets a fruits in the evening it will be available for sale'. The conclusion is also quite repetitive and does not effectively summarize the main points of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'things' and 'good' are used frequently, which limits the range of expression. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'consume less cost' (should be 'reduce costs') and 'gets a fruits' (should be 'harvests produce'). The range is sufficient to communicate the basic message, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands. You should focus on using more varied and precise vocabulary related to economics and consumer behavior.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Most of the people... likes'), article usage ('a fruits'), and awkward phrasing ('it we import it'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.
